Xantlan Chronicles

XANTLAN
These days I don’t get much sleep. My guardian and I have been getting up early almost every day for the last year. After the death of my parents in 1994, when I was only 6, I went to live in the orphanage in Europe where I met Henry. Henry and I are still best friends, and he was even adopted with me, and now lives with my producer/guardian. He also moved with me to Hollywood, California where I got my first job as an actor with the lead role in Center Eye an international disaster movie.
I am supposed to report at Nickelodeon studios everyday at 5am, where I am therefore expected to head to the hair and makeup. I never go there because it isn’t worth it, and they liked the “me” they saw when I auditioned, so why should I be worried? But as I was exploring the enormous studio, the power suddenly flicked off and the bright sunny morning turned into the darkest day of my life.
It was at this moment that the sky opened up and the roof the studio pulled off, when I was sucked into the sky. I woke up an hour later in a land where everything was sand except in the middle there was a string of a black mist like substance, which right now it was growing to cover the entire planet. But the worst thing was that with every foot it moved, it disturbed me so much that I felt that I needed to collapse onto the misty blackness that had now circled through my feet.
After the mist was passed, I found myself in a large, black chair that looked like it was crafted by an angel. “This must be worth a fortune!” I thought. “Yes it is worth a fortune, but you cannot take it.” A deep voice from behind me bellowed. “How did you know what I was thinking? It…” I stopped in mid-sentence, because this was my first glance at this mysterious speaker and he was disturbing. He was at least forty feet tall, but strangely, you could still see his face. His face was black, and covered with yellow scars. But his voice… that voice… I’ve heard that voice before… “Where am I?” I asked. “Have you never heard of the planet on the far side of the universe?” The strange thing said. “No, and you still haven’t answered my question.” “You are on the great planet of Xantlan! Now would you tell me your name human?” “I’m Jason Carter. What’s yours?” I replied. “Ahh Jason. Now that is a name I hear very often. My name is Deleon ruler of these planets that are without man, well not now. Which is why, Jason Carter, you must die.”
I jumped out of my seat, and ran just to sink into the sand. Deleon attempted to slip me out of his ground, but the second we touched, there was a spark, and the black was peeled off of his body, and after that he fell to the ground and he looked like… “Henry?!”
Return To Xantlan Parts 1 and 2
I haven’t gone outside in a month. Everything has been so unusual since I left Xantlan last month. After the missing posters went up for Henry, I went straight to my mansion and have not come out yet. Just the idea of him being a forty foot tall evil soldier who controls an entire planet and kills anyone who comes there gives me the urge to run out and do something a lunatic would do. I had mixed emotions. He was like my brother and my enemy at the same time. Then I think- am I going crazy? Am I becoming the mad man I’ve played so many times on television? No. Of course not. It was at that moment that the beam of light ripped through the building roof and sucked me in for the second time in my life.
“I prefer bringing people in through a black hole, but I think the beam is working nicely.” I looked up and saw Henry in the metamorphic process of turning himself into Deleon. I looked around and saw that the Xantlan I remembered was gone. I saw a volcanic planet. “Do you like it? I did a remodel over the time you were gone.” The way everything was placed and how it was shaped... it was ingenious! “Let me guess.” I said “you are still trying to get rid of me?” “You and that neighborhood of clueless dragons who decided to weaken me so that they could have their babies on a planet. It is the season of birth is it not?” “If you mean spring then yes.” “Well, that will make it harder to defeat them. In case you did not know the dragon has been the arch enemy of my descendants for over a thousand generations, and the humans have helped the dragons. Our people won over the humans and killed them all in the battle but we did not know that the dragons were sneaking up behind us. We all judged that they were going to attack us from the sides not the back. When the dragons won we fled to the Okalamu galaxy which is where we are now. That is why the humans are extinct here and this is why I went to your world as Henry, the little weak human, to study your culture and your life just in case you are able to come back. Hopefully that never happens.”
“But why did you suck me away and try to kill me?” I asked pleadingly. “I know of a prophecy when a human boy comes and performs the action of wiping out my people with the help to the great dragon. I sensed that you were unusual. I sensed that you were that boy. That is why you must die.”
“How about we bring in our guardian, Jonas? He’ll be happy to see me again right?” Deleon said as he raised his left hand. When he did this he sent off a green energy ray that went up to something out in space that looked like a satellite (of course it couldn’t be because of their advanced technology) then bounced of it and disappeared. Almost instantly did it reappear and in the middle a black dot. This black dot slid out and started his descent onto Xantlan just as I had. By now I could see it was indeed Jonas, my guardian.
“JONAS!” Henry thundered as he lifted his hood over his head then preformed a lifting power bringing Jonas over in midair. “You have been called by the great Deleon to Xantlan for an important reason.” “Oh… oh please don’t hurt me powerful Deleon!” Jonas stuttered. (I literally saw him shaking) “Hurt you? No definitely not. I want you to be in my league of army forces.” Deleon said making him sound delightful in a very strange way. “But sire I haven’t any weapons!” Jonas replied. “Fine. You can join Jason over there and help fight me.” “Jason? Jason… Carter?” “Yes indeed. I believe this is his second time here. He is guilty of doubting my power. Anyway, I will give you the basic. I rule, you don’t science here is better than on your planet, you are my guardian and I am Henry Totalus.” “HENRY?!” he fell back and fainted as Deleon changed back into Henry. “Go.” Henry said. “Where?” “To the dragons! I know you will fight me and I am in debt to you from sinking you in the sand do you have a head start.” As I started my decent I was intrigued to fascinate him. Though he was evil and had disguised himself for so long he still managed to be a gentleman. I started to understand him. I had just started to enjoy the trip and its scenic views when a 6 foot dragon snatched me off the ground, and started a vaguely familiar trip to the technology filled city of the dragons.
The Dragon Lair
The trip to the Dragons’ lair was dark, gloomy and overall, most unpleasant. But the city was indescribable. The walls were made of complete fire and ice. But the first thing that Jason noticed was the strange dragons. Some were a light blue, other a bright fiery orange. He would later find out that the blue ones control the ice in Xantlan and the orange ones controlled the fire in Xantlan. The power of a single dragon was vast. By his judgments, he assumed that one dragon could freeze Earth in about 20 blows. But Jason noticed that Xantlan was by far by a million times it was bigger than Earth. Then why wasn’t he smaller? There was only one explanation. He had the power to grow and shrink.
“They have arrived!” came the voice of a small, unworthy looking blue dragon. One of the larger dragons stepped forward and created a landing pad out of ice. Surprisingly, Jason had a better view of the town from the human’s eye view. The houses were more like temples each holding a range of 10-50 dragons each. They were all the same size except for one in the very center. This temple was completely covered in gold and silver. “That must be the King’s housing” thought Jason. Just then, from a far door came the larger dragon he had seen yet.
“Welcome son of Adam! We have been expecting you!” The giant dragon thundered. This dragon was different. He had red, orange, blue, purple, light green, and dark blue stripes all down his person in that order. “Let me introduce myself, I am Slaker this generation’s king and mix breed.” “Mix breed?” Jason asked. “There is one dragon every generation that has the ability to bend ice and fire, shrink and grow, throw green plasma energy bombs, create copies of his or herself, and have super-dragon strength. I sense that you are that mix breed of your race, are you not?” Slaker asked. “I have no idea what I am. I have just realized that I do have the shrinking power but nothing else.” “Then we must teach you the ways of the mix breed.” And with that they headed into the city’s biggest temple.
Wristbands
“Now demonstrate what you have learned.” Slaker announced to the town that was standing behind Jason. He first barreled into the fiery building and put it out with his newfound ice powers, then melted it and made a stream. “Task number two!” came Slaker’s voice again. He made his way to the mouse hole, went through it with the shrinking powers, and started in the simulation room. This room was the toughest. It required the power he had barely practiced at all. This power was having the ability to fly. But the thing the got him was that inside this simulation he had to fight a krakeex. A krakeex is what Deleon is.
Up, down, flip, and across. Jason knew the steps by heart. He flew up to his head, froze it, came back down and caught his stomach on fire, and the basic reflex of a krakeex when caught on fire and blind is to swoop down and try to hit his/her opponent and Jason knew this also. He dived out and unfortunately for the krakeex, that is also the way to change back into its opposite form. The krakeex did so and changed into an alien girl Jason flew across to her and used the green plasma to bind her so she was a helpless alien. The only thing that pained Jason was that he would have to do this to his classmate, and his best friend. But worst of all, his brother.
Whenever you look out upon the dragon city, you will see houses on one side, and on the other? A training camp and an army. An army of dragons well armed and well trained. This was my army. They would fight along side my in the war against his family. Henry’s family. “Jason!” came a voice from behind me. I spun around and noticed it was Slaker. “Yes?” was the reply. “I have something for you. It is a token of my gratitude. I will give this to you on one condition.” I asked, “What is it?” “It is a wristband that allows you to beam yourself from planet to planet.” “What is the condition?” I asked think about how nice it would be to go home and see everyone before I would have to lead a war. “The condition is you must not use this wristband until the war is over.”
“What?! How could I not? I have been here for over 3 months now and you expect me to not go home for just a little bit?” “I’m sorry Jason, but it is just way too dangerous. If you were to go back, your family would have assumed you dead. Then you just pop up again clean and healthy, and they will ask questions. The only way that you can prove to them that this planet is real is to bring then here, and that it just way too dangerous while we are at war. They would be a token to get you close enough to kill you.” “That does not make me want to change my mind… But I know I have to.” Slaker held out his hand, and in it was a small, golden wristband. I gladly took it and slipped it on my own wrist.
“Why even give me this if I can’t use it until the war is over?” I thought as I lay in my bed that night. “He has to have a reason.” I didn’t want to think it but it was the only explanation I could think of. “He gave it to me because he won’t be here after the war.”
Presentation Of Two Armies
Every time that you walk by the side of the Army base you feel sad and depressed. Or at least I do. Knowing that they will help you take down the only real family you have ever felt, explains why. Unfortunately I have to walk by this place every day to get to my training building. But just as I entered the building, Slaker pulled me out of the building back in the direction I came, except we went down a set of stairs I had never noticed before. “Since you have mastered your skills...” Slaker started, “…We will not exercise with them today. Today we will introduce you to your army.” “My army?” I asked. “Of course it is yours! Who else’s?”
“Ahh here we are! Master Mereolon, this is Jason.” Mereolon, wearing full armor, walked over to me, examined me, and walked back. She was a small, skinny woman. But her muscles were as big as boulders. She said, “He is a human!” her voice was larger and way more booming than Slaker’s by a mile. “A strong one to both mentally and physically.” Slaker protested in my favor. But he has no control of himself. One thing like Henry being Deleon might destroy his mental and physical balance. That is why he needs more practice. If he cannot…” she was stopped short by the bang of an alarm bell. The bell was followed by sirens and both kept going.
“Fly to the observation tower!” Slaker bellowed at the top of his lungs. So that I did. I shot skyward toward the observing platform.
About halfway there, I started to see them. About 2 miles away from the wall surrounding the city, there were millions upon millions of Krakeexs. “Go! Go!” Slaker called from the tower when I hadn’t even arrived yet. I gracefully flew in the direction of Deleon’s army. I arrived at my first enemy among the millions. Starting on the maneuver, the Krakeex was looking at me pitifully. He changed his attack, and punched me throwing me towards a large lava pit. I froze it, picked it up and threw it at a Krakeex. It swooped his hand down to stop it. He switched back and the ice hit him dead on his head. He was flung backward into another pit. He burnt to a crisp while he was unconscious.
I was already tired after just killing one. To my relief, balls of plasma, fire, and ice were launched into the madness. I felt a burning feeling in my leg. I spun around and found it sitting in a lava pit. The hurt immediately left me and it actually felt good. My hands started to torn green then my legs eventually I was all green. Then the colors started to alternate. Blue, purple, green, red, orange and more. They went faster and faster until I was in a cocoon of colors. It hurt to look at it. I closed my eyes. There were screams. Cries. Cries of fear. I opened my eyes. I had scales. On my back, I had larger scales each one was a different color. The colors of a mix-breed. I was a dragon in a human shape my eyes were glowing. Down my arms, were tattoos that were flames. They were glowing also. I had also grown a foot. A made about 10 of me, and advanced into the crowd.
A Bracelet Put To Use
5 more down and 20 more of myself. I had kept this system for the last 20 minutes. Now there were about 40 of me. Now with my new body, the Krakeexes were actually afraid of me. I nearly fainted when I saw a Krakeex with yellow scars on its face. That is the description of Deleon. I approached him. “Jason!” Slaker called from behind me. He tossed a sword and shield. I jumped and attacked my adopted brother. Henry swatted me back as if I were a mere gnat. Some of the dragon troops advanced so to help me. “Back away!” I boomed. “I must do this.” I shifted my heels. The ground lowered and the lava rose. Krakeexs created another barrier. The tried to hop across, but the distance was too long and they burnt to their death. For ever it took for one blow to hit Henry but finally one did, and he returned it with a blow that sent me flying. “If he is that strong” I thought, “then he has been preserving his energy. I have to weaken him. I’ll just stay in the sky and fire at him.” So I did. He could not return any of the hits. I had this fight in the bag.
Deleon was dodging as much as a person could lying on the ground like he was. I landed next to him and told him, “Henry you are like a brother to me. You have been the only family I have ever really known. Thank you. But now I have another family. The dragons. They will care for me and keep me.” “That is the part you don’t get Jason! They are tricking you! They want you to trust them then they will crush you! I have been trying to tell you that!” Deleon said in a surprisingly loud voice for someone who knows they are about to die. “I know they will care for me. Unlike everything I found on earth. I have changed into a man on this battlefield. I know what I have to do. I raised my sword when Deleon changed into Henry. “Please” he muttered in an attempt to finally win me over. I raised my sword higher and whispered “you wouldn’t have hesitated to kill me. Why should I you?” Then I plunged it straight into the heart of my brother. I rose to my feet, changed back into my normal self, and activated my bracelet.
After The End
(Not found anywhere else)
Jason eventually went back home and convinced his family to come with him to live in Xantlan. He learned that he was now ruler of Xantlan. He shunned the Krakeexs from the planet and made the environment just right for the dragons and humans alike. He was also made ruler of the dragon city because of the last mix-breed (Slaker) dying in battle. He is now dead and his bracelet can be seen at the Xantlan Museum of History
